Wadkin E.C.A. 3 Head Tenoner

This is a handy compact machine capable of handling cabinet work, light door work, sash windows etc, at high rates of production. It has been specially designed for fast, easy operation. Adjustments are readily accessible and easy to make.

The machine will tenon, scribe the shoulders and cut off to length at one pass of the table. It will take timber 346mm wide by 114mm deep and cut tenons up to 127mm long at one pass. The fence can be swivelled 45° for angular tenons and the cutter head will rise a max of 114mm above the table.

Morticers

We have two mortising machines – a Sedgwick 571 Hollow Chisel Morticer (pictured) & an Axminster Industrial Series YC2308 Floor Standing Morticer.

They are both of a similar spec and functionality with a max chisel size capacity of 25mm for softwood and 19mm for hardwood.

They have a chisel stroke of 125 mm and a max timber height of 170 mm. They have a max timber capacity of 255mm (max height under chisel) x 180mm (max clamping width).

Cross Cut Saws

Cross-cutting saws are ideal for cutting materials to length, primarily across the grain.

The cutting edge of each tooth is angled in an alternating pattern and this design allows each tooth to act like a knife-edge to slice through the wood smoothly. This is in contrast to a rip saw, whose purpose is to cut longer lengths of wood along the grain.

We have two different sized fitted Cross Cut Saws in the workshop – a 8″ machine and a 4″ machine.

Other Industrial Machines

We have a comprehensive collection of over 20 industrial quality machines in total – and those not mentioned in more detail above include; a band saw, pillar drill and lathe.

We also have a selection of machines which, whilst not directly involved in woodworking production, can be very useful. These include; a grinder, wire brush & sander, sharpener, polisher and even a specialist profile cutter for making machine tool parts.

It is expected that you will have had experience of using the industrial woodworking machinery and you will need to demonstrate competence in doing so. If you have experience in working several of the machines, but not all, then we maybe able to give training on a piece of equipment which you don’t have direct experience of but would like to use. (There will be an extra charge for time taken in training).

Other Tools

Power Tools

There are two Double 12″ Compact Mitre Saws in the workshop and other smaller power tools may be available to hire upon request. If you bring your own then there are several battery charging units available for your use.

Air Tools

Several of our machines run on compressed air and there is a spare air line provided to all three bench spaces. There are two Air Drills available to hire and you are of course welcome to bring your own air tools to use.

Hand Tools

There are a few hand & measuring tools available for hire, but we find that most tradesmen have and bring their own. If there are any particular tools you would like to hire then we may be able to help upon request.
We also have a manual Hand Stacker truck which rises to a height of approx 8ft and so can be useful to handle palletised materials off or onto a delivery vehicle.
